The Common Denominator of Success Of course, like most of us, I’d been brought up on the popular belief that the secret of success is hard work, but I’d seen so many men work hard without succeeding and so many men succeed without working hard that I had become convinced that hard work was not the real secret even though in most cases it might be one of the requirements.
And so I set out on a voyage of discovery which carried me through biographies and autobiographies and all sorts of dissertations on success and the lives of successful men and women until I finally reached the point at which I realized that the secret I was trying to discover lay not only in what people did, but also in what made them do it!

The Winner’s Notebook
Earl Nightingale, realizing that writing down ones goals and desires is an important part of the equation for achievement, he wished to publish a book which would provide, not only information and inspiration, but give the reader space on each page to jot down their individual thoughts and ideas as they read his messages and became inspired. Claiming it as their personal "winner's notebook" becomes a positive affirmation that they are now, and will always be, a "Winner"!
From Darkness to Download by Diana Nightingale
Well, unlike reading books, electric light bulbs, the telegraph, and phonographs (that's what he called them) really caught on. While the light bulb served many useful purposes, the telegraph was able to transfer words from one place to another, and the phonograph became a really big hit when music could be magically transformed and captured into tiny...
No, it is not all good by Diana Nightingale In 1897, Newsman, Francis Pharcellus Church, wrote a story which appeared on The Editorial Page of The New York Sun. It was called, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus". The letter was in response to a little 8-year old girl’s question as to whether there is a Santa Claus, and has become part of Christmas lore in the United States for more than 112 years. This week, I had the opportunity to write a response to a caller who believes that "it’s all good" and then in an act of supreme hypocrisy, took me to task and then hung up on me because I was candid and honest in response to her questions. I was not positive enough for her! The letter sums up my philosophy on life, Earl’s work and my own personal perspective on integrity. In today’s world too many have learned to compromise their integrity in order to stay in business and too few are willing to take a stand for what they believe in for fear of being rejected, and ridiculed. Even more are willing to turn away a watchful eye and say, "It’s all good - it’s an opportunity to give love and forgiveness" and in so doing, allow pain and suffering to visit still more innocent people instead of taking a stand for what’s right.

"WATER AT NIGHT"
Attitude - Faith In Action by Earl Nightingale
It is our attitude that determines what happens to us in life. As William James of Harvard once put it, “It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else will affect its successful outcome.”
The "ides" of March by Diana Nightingale
Earl Nightingale began his "two lives" in the month of March. He was born to his earthly life in March, and was born to eternal life in March, as well. Each year since his passing I have endeavored to present something of Earl’s works to his followers in the month of March. This year, I just want to share some of the great lessons I learned from him that have enhanced my life and, my journey without him, in hopes that you, too, will find something of value which will enhance your life.
Acres of Diamonds by Earl Nightingale
One of the most interesting Americans alive around the turn of the century, was a man by the name of Russell Herman Conwell. He was born in 1843 and lived until 1925. He was a lawyer for about fifteen years, and then he became a clergyman (I think he was a Baptist) . . .
Defining Success by Earl Nightingale Much has been written about this word “success” and what it means, how to achieve it. I looked up what some of the great minds of the past had to say about this interesting condition . . .

A Best Seller by Earl Nightingale
One of the greatest things that can happen to a person - - and it happens to only a few - - is to produce something that becomes a best seller. It can be a product, a service, or in its most familiar sense, it can be a book, a song, or a recording. No one can say exactly what makes a best seller, but when...

Better to Light A Single Candle by Diana Nightingale From the desk of Diana Nightingale It’s been a while since I’ve written to you - sometimes even the deepest well runs dry and you have to begin again and find a source that will spring forth and give nourishment. Do you ever wonder if it’s easy to remain positive in an otherwise negative world? Well, it isn’t. Encouraging others to remain positive; cheering on those who are weary from the race and staying strong in hope and faith when all around appears hopeless takes energy and can be very debilitating. Being human, I, tire, too. And being one who usually hides out when my "light is low", I give the impression that I never have bad days or bad times. Then one day as I sat in my jammies, hair eschew, it occurred to me that sharing my lows might be more helpful to others than when I am at peak energy and momentum.
USS Arizona - Pearl Harbor by Earl Nightingale I grew up during the Great Depression, and after my father left us, my mother, two brothers and I lived in Tent City, in Long Beach, California. What we lacked in monetary wealth, Honey, our mother, more than made up for in love and guidance. It was she, who developed in me, my love for books, and I longed for the day when I would be old enough to set out into the world and visit some of the far off places I had read about.
It's Friday, but Sunday's Comin by Diana Nightingale Earl passed away the day before Easter, in 1989, and a few months later, a friend gave me a cassette to listen to. It was by Dr. Anthony Campolo and titled, "It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin."
Reflections and Recollections From The Desert by Diana Nightingale Earl was an early riser - - always popping out of bed with a great idea to write about and share with his many followers, so by mid-day, he was ready to shut off his typewriter, go to lunch and go off to “seize’ what was left of the rest of the day. I loved that each day I shared with Earl began in the same secure and loving way, but how it unfolded was always new and surprising, and totally unpredictable.

The Wedge of Discouragement by Earl Nightingale Have you ever felt discouragement so deeply that you had a hard time coming up with a good answer for living?
Well, we all have from time to time. And I got to thinking the other day about a fable I read some while back. I don’t remember where I read it, or who wrote it, but, here it is as well as I can remember it . . .
Pumpkin In A Jug by Earl Nightingale & Diana Nightingale In the fall when the leaves are turning, a chill is in the air and roadside merchants offer fall apples, squash and pumpkins, I am reminded of the farmer who was walking through his pumpkin patch early in the growing season, and while walking near the road that ran by his farm, he found a one-gallon glass jug that some motorist had tossed into his field. He stood looking at the jug for a few moments, and then for no particularly good reason, he poked a small pumpkin into the jug without damaging the vine . . .
